The Process of Obtaining a Fencing Estimate

First, you’ll want to consider the reasons for your new fence. List all of the reasons you need a fence and your ideas. For example, a wrought iron fence is lovely and makes your property look open and inviting, but it won’t dampen sound the way a wood fence will. If you want a fence that offers high utility and visibility, a chain-link fence might an option. Talk to your estimator about your fencing needs, and, in particular, any concerns you may have about those needs.
Some factors to consider
After you discuss what you want and need from a fence, the estimator will measure the size of the area to be fenced, and make a note of the existing features such as slopes. You’ll need to decide on the height of the fence, and then make some more specific choices. If you want a wood fence, what kind of wood will meet your needs? Do you want it to be stained? What style of gate will fit your situation and requirements? What about toppers or caps? Is security an issue of concern?

If there is an old fence in place, it will need to be removed. Before building begins, a building permit will need to be obtained, and, in many cases, homes in an HOA area will have to abide by the HOA requirements, too. Utility companies will need to be consulted. Each of these items needs to be delegated and managed before the beginning of construction.

Before deciding on the type of fence and which fencing company to use, a homeowner should clearly understand the kind of warranty that comes with the new fence. This is his protection in the event there is a problem.
The excitement of adding a new fence will carry you through to the day your fencing company comes out for the installation. It may require several weeks to obtain the material for the type of fence you selected. There may also be a wait time because fencing companies can become very busy at certain times of the year.
